Caffeine and Chocolate
The first type of food that should be avoided when you breastfeed your baby is coffee. Some mothers might drink coffee since they need to stay awake in the middle of the night to take care of their baby. However, consume coffee while breastfeed is apparently not recommended. If you drink coffee, the caffeine in the coffee might work its way into the breast milk. Your baby’s body is still not prepared to process the caffeine in quick way. As the result, your baby might not be able to sleep easily if you breastfeed him/her after you drink coffee. Besides coffee, other type of food that should be avoided when you’re breastfeeding is chocolate. Just like coffee, chocolate is also a source of caffeine as well. Besides, chocolate might have laxative effect on your baby. If you consume chocolate while breastfeeding, your baby might get fussy and has runny poop.
Fish and Dairy Products
Fish is basically a good food for mother who is breastfeeding since fish is a great source of protein and amino acids. However, you might need to avoid certain types of fish when you breastfeeding. Some fish might have high level of mercury. If you consume fish that contains high level mercury, the mercury might get into your breast milk and get consumed by your baby eventually. If you want to consume fish during breastfeeding, you need to follow some rules so that your baby will not have any health issues. Dairy products are also considered as the type of food that needs to be avoided during breastfeeding. If you consume dairy products when breastfeeding may cause several issues on your baby such as eczema, behavior issues, or even skin issues.

It is obvious that you need to avoid alcohol when you breastfeeding your baby. However, some mothers might don’t know that consuming alcohol or even weed and narcotics substances during breastfeeding is bad for their baby. Alcohol can get into the breast milk and might cause negative effects on your baby. Other types of foods to avoid while breastfeeding your baby include parsley or peppermint, citrus, peanuts, wheat, and garlic.
